Can somebody explain to me what it is i need to do to replace the "water pump"? I am uneducated about what parts i will need (pump, impeller or impeller kit, housing, etc..). We tryed to find a "water pump" to replace the current one with, but the local parts stores say they only have an impeller kit for our model engine...? So what is it we need to do to get the cooling system operating properly...it is not putting out water at above plane...nothing has been done to the cooling system in years...another reply to a similar post said that you should not change just the impeller, but replace it all...so we are confused about what to do, with the parts store saying they only have an impeller kit...(like..does this model engine have a pump, housing, etc... and can u get them from a local parts store or from an OEM/OMC parts?
THanks guys

Well Willis...depends on if the pump plate is wore, ie..grooves in the plate, as to wether to replace the whole thing. If it hasn't been replace since the engine first came of the assembly line, replace the housing and all. The kits are still availabe....pricey at about $90 but then you got some piece of mind. Might as well replace the t-stats also....I believe yours has a vernatherm.

While your at it, if ya' don't got one, get a manual. Will pay for itself in the short and long run.

EDIT: Forgot...the parts can be gotten from any Johnny/Rude dealer. Or try a search in iboats Mega Mall.
