Water Pump 1990 60hp

Should I be able to switch a water pump on my 1900 60hp VRO Johnson. Anything I need to know any special tools/tricks ? What about switching the tattle tale and heat sensor wires, T stat and seat (upgrades) Thanks USMC

Before I changed anything, I would verify that the cylinders are in good condition. Check compression. The temp sensor should have a pig tail, about 7 inches long, tan with blue stripe, pn 584168. The tattle tale nipple and relief springs,improved impeller and instructuons are in the waterpump kit, have parts person open box to verify this before money changes hands. You have to drill hole in block for the tattle tale nipple. I have to look for the thermostat and seat numbers.

No special tools - don't know your motor but the most common problem is that some motors have a bolt under the trim tab by the prop that must come out. The other is disconnecting and reconnecting the shift rod. A manual helps big time.

I take it I can find the desired compresion in the manual ? Can I drill the cooling hole myself, is it in the manual ?
