water pump condition

I fished with a guy today who has a 150 Johnny (1990) on his boat. I noticed that the small water stream coming out the back of his motor only trickled water. On my 1994 225 Johnny, the stream is strong with a lot of pressure. He said that this engine always trickled the water and that he never had any problems with overheating. He changes his water pump every 5 years or so. Does a strong flow indicate that the water pump is in good shape, and does a weak flow indicate possible problems if the water line is not clogged?
Stalker

I think your fishin' bud's engine's pee hole iz plugged up. It shouldn't just dribble, it oughta pee . Might try pokin' a little wire up in it or maybe blowin' it out. Probably mud dobbers.

c/6
Hooty

Hooty:
That what I figured. I had the same problem with a 1977, 15 HP Johnny. I was able to disconnect the hose and clear the line. It worked great after that.
Stalker
