I was wondering if the following is a good indication that the water pump/impeller cooling system is working fine.
When my Yamaha 150 outboard is running, the water streams out of the upper port (just below the upper cowling...I don't know the name of it) just fine. When I shut down the engine, it continues streaming out for around 30 seconds...never really timed it. I don't have any indication otherwise that anything is wrong.
Is that a good indiciation that the cooling system is working properly, and maybe I could avoid checking/replacing the impeller? I don't think the impeller has ever been replaced...it is a 2003 that was bought new in 2005.
Thanks!
