Water pump filter - how to find and clean?

Water stopped flowing through the faucet and I've been meaning to clean the water filter but can't find it. Bought a SELOC book for my engine and i figured it wouldn't have much in there for the filter and it did.

I'm getting power to the water pump

Water is in the fresh water tank (full actually)

It worked fine in the past. I check the lines and visually they look ok unless the clog is deeper in the line.

What do you suggest to unlcog water lines? Drano won't make it through ?

Where is the water filter?

It's a SeaRay Sundancer 260 - mercuriser 260 engine.

Thanks for your help.

What do you use to blow air pressure through the line?

if it is the same as our 85 sundancer it is a little square filter that is screwed into the port side of the pump.
remove 4 screws and clean.
when you winterized the water system and blew the lines free of water, did you tighten the lines back up good as you could be sucken air.

Thanks ROB! This is my first season of the boat so still a lot of learning to do and I've learnt a lot also thanks to these forums and helpful people.

I really looked around and didn't see any type of filter. If you have a 260/268 sundancer, I'm willing to bet its the same. Next time I'm up at the marina, I'll look out for a square type filter though i took the pump 'lid' off and din't see anything and couldn't find anything that resembles a filter.

Re: Water pump filter - how to find and clean?

Ok I found it on the bottom of the pump. First I had to unscrew the 4 screws that attached the pump to the engine fiberglass hull. Flip it upside down, and take a lot of screws off and the bottom had a screen.

Warning: If your tank fresh water tank is full like my 30g, it will all leak out when you unscrew the bottom. Not a problem and I was expected it. Turned my bilge pump out to flush it out.

So the bottom has some type of bottom cover with screens. It's not really a filter but more like a washer metal mesh screen. It didn't seem dirty but they had all poped out.

I brought it home to clean that bottom 'lid' and will check it out. If not it's the line but I'm sure for an 84, that bottom has never been cleaned.

I'll post my results if anyone is interested.
