Get the impeller for the 1954 model. With two simple modifications you can make it work in your motor.

Mod. 1 - the bore for the hole is a tad smaller on the later impeller. Open up the hole with a round file until it fits smoothly on your driveshaft.

Mod. 2 - the 1953 impeller has a shorter profile than the '54 & up. Lay it on a belt sander and sand it down until it matches your original impeller's thickness. Flip the impeller frequently so that it takes equal amounts off both sides. I eyeballed my, but you can measure it with vernier calipers to get it close.

The OEM part number is: 277181. The NAPA (Sierra) part number is 18-3001. This is the impeller that needs to be modified to replace the original 276983 impeller.
