I put a new water pump assembly in my 1997 mercury 115 hp, I forgot to use gasket sealer on bottom gasket that goes under plate. Is it ok to not use sealer ?
I took it apart and put some sealer on the plate that mounts face down to to gear box, now they say to put a bead of RTV on the back of the pump housing so exhaust gases do not get into pump!
