Water pump hose not connected 1987 4.3l OMC

I opened up the water pump compartment and found that I don't have a hose that goes to the water pump. Is that normal? I see a rubber numb where the hose should be but the pump has no inlet. Did the previous owner do something or is this correct? OMC cobra out drive for a 4.3l v6 1987.

The nipple on the hose on the housing is broken off. I would replace the housing and impeller and run a new hose into the drive. It's missing.

It is fine you have a vent hole on the upper left side that should be spraying water out. Some housing do have a nipple on them for a hose but not the one you have.
I have a 86 cobra same set up.
