water pump hose?

I have a hose that runs from my engine mounted water pump way over near my hot water tank and connects to another hose (w/ a plastic barb) that runs along the other hose and this one goes below the thermostat housing. What is it for and why are they rounted way over near the hot water tank and hook up to eachother???? (Is it for a heater or something?)

Is it ok if they are semi frozen? Only those hoses were really slushy. all others are not slushy. (boat is winterized)

What size boat ? sounds like my BAYLINER 2755 cruser.

I think you are refering to the hoses that allow the water heater to get hot from the engine heat. If you drained the water from the engine it is quite possible that those lines would not completely drain since they law really flat and rear relitively long runs.

There should be room in the hose if water was to semi freeze for it to expand and not cause any damage but I think it all depends on how much was is in those hoses. I would have assumed there woulnt be enough to tell but you say you can tell they are slushy. Sounds like a lot of water to me.

Im not sure but there is what looks liek a hose bib on my water heater. Maby thats where you can drain standing water but I really think its for draining the water heater not the engine hoses.

Sounds like it is for the air heater.....
I would not be comfy with any water in any hose.....
But that's just me......:)

Its a 98 searay sundancer. I think it will be ok but if it cracks its only a regular 5/8 hose.

5/8 hose is flexible. So it won't crack. If you have pooled water in the hose could you have pooled water somewhere else?

I'm not trying to scare you but, when I "winterized" mine, (it's closed cooled) I ran it on muffs and sucked a couple of gallons of 50/50 mix all thru the "raw" water side before shutting it off.

Any pooled water now (especially any pools in the risers/elbows) , is 50/50 mix.

Ayuh,........... I Wonder how much Water was left in the water heater,..??.................

If it were Me,........
I'd disconnect that long run of hoses,+ put a short loop from the motor, back to the motor.......
It sounds like you're Not using the water heater Anyways.........

The engine has 5 gallons of antifreeze through it. ran it on muffs and dumped down thermostat housing. no issues there. I have a hot water tank but those hoses don't connect to it. Yes I drained all the water from the tank. I just wanted to know why and what those hoses are for and why are they so long. I could cut them and use the plastic fitting right near the engine but I don't want to do that if there is a reason for the super long hoses that connect to each other.

most hotwater heaters can be run off the hull AC systems OR as a liquid to liquid heat exchanger.
as a liquid to liquid it takes hot water from the engine and uses a heat exchanger to heat the fresh potable water in the water heater tank.
sounds like the liquid to liquid part of yours is disconnected.
a liquid to air cabin heater works about the same.

yup, the liquid to liquid was disconnected. one of the barbs is broken off the tank. Can I use an easyout and just buy a new fitting? Then I will have hot water both ways?
