water pump housing

Have a TE60TLEIB Evinrude---Getting ready to order a water pump/impeller repair kit and was wondering if I need the kit with the housing in it also. also looking at the water pump I do not see anything that could easily go wrong with the pump and I do not see a need to really change it--am I wrong

The impeller should be changed about every 5 years on your motor.-----------Housing and liners are usually OK.------Of course a shop might insist on a complete kit as a money maker and to insure no " come back "
