when we have warm weather around here i'm gonna take a stab at changing my water pump. I have a 40 h.p 2 stk (2004) in short of going to my local marina deal and buying one I've been looking at the one's on this site and they are....sierra #18-3394 and mollery #9-48209....fairly cheap . which would be the better one?. do you think the deal is gonna pull up the same kit # or something else ? I 'm pretty sure there price is alittle elevated. but all an all this should work for this motor ?

I can't say for certainty because I haven't used either kits before. I see some lean towards the Sierra for one reason or the other. But it is more of a personal choice. If this is the first time the pump impellor is being changed, I say it will certain need it. And not knowing what the kits include, you will probably need the entire pump kit instead of just an impellor... JMHO though! :)

Unless you operate in very bad water ( lots of sand / silt ) you only need a new impeller.-------Factory impellers are the best way to go.-----------Impellers are all " black rubber " but they are not all the same !!

Bought the Sierra kit last year for my 200. Worked great, and came with good instructions. The kit comes with basically the whole pump, and is well worth the peace of mind, IMO.

I've used the Sierra kits with no incidents and they are also available at our local auto parts store.
