I took "Slow Ride" (31' fountain with twin yammy outbaords) out for a ride yesterday and ended up having the port engine over heat. The buzzer went off and I slowed to an idle to check it out. After letting it "rest" at idle the buzzer stopped. I assumed I picked up some grass or something like that and didn't think to much of it. I took off again and ran for about 20 minutes at 3500 rpms. No problem. When I stepped up to 3800, I got the buzzer again. I notice this time that there was no water coming from the tattle tale! I let it idle for about 3 minutes and the alarm went turned off again. I limped home and got it on the trailer. Today I changed the impeller on both engines and went for a ride. The other engine did great. There is a very strong stream of water from the tattle tail. The engine which ran hot did have a steam of water from the tail but it was not as strong as the other. It ran fine and I ran it at WOT for several short bursts and kept it at 4000-4200 for about 10-15 minutes. I think its ok but because it is different than the other, it has my attention. What do you think? Am I over reacting or should I be alarmed. As a starting point, the stream is much stronger than I have ever seen it on that motor. (I bought it used 2 over a year ago)
