Water pump kit

I have a 1974 Evinrude 115, pretty sure water pump done, iboats show a Sierra for bout 30 bucks, anyone know if it's what I need,, thanks

Have you inspected the pump yet? If it still has the old aluminum pump housing, you ought to update it to the plastic pump housing with stainless steel liner. The complete kit is part number 0439140

With the info you gave, that's not even an educated guess. Which pump and what condition is your pump?

It shows the signs of needing one,, my number 1 question was if part available, some people round here think can't get parts for 74 Evinrude 115.

Get home in few Hook hose up, confirm it, ,, always check before ordering anything,, I appreciate the input!!

I hooked muffs up, cranks good, no start ,,appears have good spark, seems like fuel not reaching plugs, there's plenty of good fuel,, even spray in carb does no good, it did get HOT ,, reckon compression check is pertinent advice is always appreciated...

If it didn't start, how did it get Hot?

When we was out on it,, it got hot, quite a bit hot then oared to dock and loaded up other morning

Compression test, 40,40,40,40,, tighten bolts up, 90,90,90,75, and starts quicker than when first got it and didn't have to prime it,,,needs water pump kit,

You need to remove heads and replace head gaskets.---Inspect cylinder walls.------The heads will be warped and need to be made flat again.

If it got that hot, the exhaust gaskets are cooked also, and need to be replaced. BUT gaskets won't fix scored pistons and cylinders.

Pistons and cylinder walls probably do have scaring, but it might finish up this fishin season, then before next season get lil newer 115-125 for it, , it got hot, I expected the coating on every wire to be melted,, sound like bacon sizzling on low heat..
