water pump looks like i need to bend it to fit ?

do i really need to bend the fin's that far to make it fit the housing. looks as thow its the right impellor. that is gonna be one tight fit. thought it would be closer to the roundness of the housing.? 1985 johnson 115

Yes,they bend a lot.Lube the housing up with dish soap and turn the drive shaft to twist the impeller into the housing...

If they weren't that tight they would create any pressure. I coat the cup in dish soap and then twist the impeller into the cup before I put it on the driveshaft, just remember that it seems opposite since it's upside down. Then I put the whole thing on as an assembly and slide it down onto the key. Twisting it into the cup using the driveshaft seems harder to me. Either way works though.
