I have a 1987 Cobia Challenger 197srv with a 350 in it. Been sitting for 8 years & had to replace the fuel pump. I removed a big water pump hose to make the job easier and now after putting everything back together I have no water pumping through the system. Seems kinda funny that water circulation was a non-issue until I removed/replaced this hose, which was full of water upon dis-assembly. My question is do you have to bleed air out of the system and or prime it somehow? I see a couple plugs on the water pump that may be for bleeding/priming? I definately do not have water coming from the water pump, have it hooked up to the hose, started it and nothing. Please Help!!

After sitting for eight years you are a prime candidate for a new water pump impeller. Nothing special about them - go to your favorite auto parts store and get what you need. :D

You're talking about a CIRCULATING pump and you probably have a problem with the RAW water pump (a different pump)

Without knowing what engine/drive you have it's hard to advise you on what to do.

Click here for more info on that!

Cheers,

I'll also add that sitting for 8 years will result in a HOST of other problems that you'll need to deal with too....
