Water Pump problem

I had a new water pump install on my 76 75hp Johnson and before I could put it in the water the starter went bad. I had the starter replaced and now there is no water coming from the spout. Can it be clogged up somewhere. Is there someting I can check before I pay to have more mechanic work done? I have reviewed Clymers but it is somewhat vague about the water pump removal.

Re: Water Pump problem

Does your motor have a pee hole or does the water come out with the exhaust? It's possible the pee hole is plugged up (mud wasps have done it to me before) Take a piece of wire and stick it up into the pee hole. Also, it's possible to not see water from the pee hole for a minute (or so) after starting the motor. Rev the motor (slightly) and see if the water comes out then.

You were exactly right. After running a wire up the little hole the water began to run out again. Whew :) I thought there was something major. Thanks a lot!
