Hi all,
Trying to diagnose a weak telltale stream at idle (no overheating issues as of yet), so two questions:

1. Is this normal of engines of this type?

and

2. upon inspection, I found no blockages, water flows easily into and out of water jackets and tubing, tstats open at the proper temp, the poppit opens when I apply pressure to the system (maybe too easily?), the impeller looks brand new, which it should be, but I noticed there was no slinger gasket on the driveshaft when I dropped the lower unit. I also looked at the mercury express site and I don't see a slinger on the parts diagrams for my motor. Do all water pumps have them? My pump housing fits snug on the shaft, but I don't see any real seals on top. Could this be my issue?

Thanks.

Some thermostats don't have a very large slot in the and it will restrict the pitot flow I know of several owners enlarging the slots to get a better flow but it's nothing that has to be done as it won't hurt the engine, if the flow increases as the stats open that your trouble
