Hi
I have a 1999 Johnson 150 HP Oceanpro. I am putting in a new water pump assembly. Here are two pictures showing the impeller housing and the water tube spacer. The water tube spacer has 4 evenly spaced raised areas in the taper. Am I supposed to put sealer in this taper as it looks like with the 4 raised areas it could not seal. ( see pictures )
Thanks Rod

Re: Water pump question

it's not a spacer, its actually a guide. if that wasn't there then you'd have a hell of a time trying to line up the water inlet tube.
you do not want to put sealer on that. if you did.. the next time you go to drop the lower you'd rip the inlet tube out with it.
lastly, the drive will be about a thousand times easier to install if you take off the exhaust tube and install that first.

Re: Water pump question

Hi
I have another question. My drive shaft has a little up and down movement.
Should I pull it up against the thrust bearings before twisting to lock the wedge key on the impeller?
