Water Pump Repair kit

I Have a 1966 Gulf Stream with a MerCruiser I Stern Drive Serial # 2028545..MerCruiser Marine Engine Serial # 2045309 Model 120. need a water pump repair kit. I tried Iboats no luck. Where can I get the parts for the outdrive water pump??? Thanks

Howdy,

About 5 years ago I did a complete raw water pump replacement on my 1966 150 Mercruiser #1 drive. I had a problem finding the par too. I finally found the housing etc at a Mercruiser dealer.

There's going to be a point at which it won't be available anymore. At that point you'll probably need to swap out the whole drive with an SEI etc....

I think this might be the one your looking for. It appears the kit is no longer available however they do have the parts seperately.

Thanks for the info. Since this is all new to me. How do I know what parts I need for the water pump. I was told by the previous owner, that you need to replace the empeller unit. I'm not sure if that is all I need to replace. The boat has been stored for the past 8 years. If I'm going to drop the stern drive I might as well put in all new parts. What is your take on this? I'm making a wooden outdrive stand per instructions I took off the forum and getting set-up for whatever...Thanks....
