Hello folks - it's been a while since you helped me so I'm back again for more!
I'm trying to change the water pump/impeller on a 2001 Johnson 150, model RJ150VXSIF. I removed the two bolts on each side of the lower unit, removed the trim tab and the bolt that was hidden under it, and also removed the bolt on the tail end of the lower unit.
Problem - I can't get it to separate. I read somewhere that I might have to disconnect the shift rod - somehow?
I have a Clymer manual for the engine - not much help. Can anyone help in letting me know where to go from here??
Thanks again to all that respond:)

Thanks, I found this a couple minutes ago, still not sure if I'm looking for a bolt or pin to disconnect the drive shaft???

Re: Water pump replacement on Johnnson 150

Just wanted to say thanks for the tips, we found the shift linkage connection under the carbs and were able to disconnect it with a ratchet and extensions, reinstalled the lower unit, but accidently bumped the shift rod putting it back in which caused us to have no neutral when we tightened up everything. Lowered unit again, reset linkage to neutral, and more carefully reinstalled lower unit. All works well. Safe boating and THANKS again:)
