Normally when I remove my lower unit the copper water pump tube stays up inside the drive shaft housing. On this "parts" motor I got when I dropped the lower unit the copper tube came with. Is this a bad thing or can I just stick it back up where it goes?

There are rubber gromets/bushings on both ends, not an issue.

It can be a problem to reinstall the water tube into the midsection. Lube up the tube and say a small prayer, and you might get lucky.

Thanks you two. Chris- I'm not sure I understand what you mean. How come its difficult? Is it just hard to push that tube back into the seal?

Re: Water pump tubing

The rubber seal is a cylinder-shape. it sits in a hole in the casting. There is certain anount of friction between the rubber seal and the copper tube. You have to line up the end of the water tube exactly with the opening in the rubber, w/o being able to see it.

If you twist the tube back and forth, you may get past snagging the lip of the seal.

BTW - the seal in the waterpump cover water outlet is exactly like the one in the midsection.

I see, that makes sense. I think. Haha. It might take a while but I should be able to get it eventually is what you are sort of saying.
