hey I just finished replacing my impeller and started it up today. No water was coming out the TT. I cleaned the line/ blow air in it/ sat the lower unit carefully so it all lined up. I only ran the motor for a min or two and when there was no water i shut it down. My question it how long would it take the water to reach the TT?? If water should have been coming out, what would guys think the problem would be?

THANK

It would help to know which motor you have! Did you replace the drive key that couples the impeller to the drive shaft? Did the water tube seals get replaced? Did the water tubes actually engage the upper tubes?

Re: water pump

Andlast but not least, where are you running it? In a bucket, on a boat, on muffs, or where?

Re: water pump

Can you remove your tell tale, and hook up a water hose to the place it screws into? I would try back flushing it to see if that works. Sometimes mud daubers make nests in the little holes engines rely on for water delivery. :) If you are sure it is a water delivery issue. Take one of the thermostat hoses off, and see if water comes out of it when you run the engine. If water comes out then you have a problem from the thermostat to the tell tale.

Re: water pump

yeah i guess i forgot all that info. It's a 86 200 Evinrude, the key was replaced, the seals where replaced (new pump kit), and when we were reinstalling the lower unit, the tubes lined up and fit together the last time we were able to see them. We are running it on muffs. I tried taking the thermo out and they were dry. So I'm thinking that it's the impeller?? the compressed air was able to get through no problem (before lower unit reinstallation) The prop turned when you turned the fly wheel (plugs out).

Re: water pump

if you take it apart again some models have an air bleed hole in pump housing
ck to see if that is clear, and never use any sealer in pump unless factory says to I have replaced many a home repair where silicone pluged up intake and air bleed Mark
