I was told by a local marine service that the there are two water pumps on my engine. They told me that one of them should be changed annualy. Is this true? I've never heard that before. I have the Volvo Penta I/O 5.0Gl

Ayuh,...

The raw water impeller is Rubber,+ doesn't last much longer than that...

The raw water pump is mounted on the end of the crankshaft on that engine, and has two, inch and a quarter hoses attached to it. And yes, yearly is recommended. The other pump on your engine is called a circulation pump and is bolted to the block. This is the one that was called a water pump on cars and trucks.

Re: Water Pump??

Thanks for the info guys. Is this part fairly easy to change, thinking I might buy the part and put it on myself. It's easy access and doesn't look to complicated. Is there anything I should know about this before I change it out? I rather save the $100 there going to charge me.
