water pump

I have a Johnson 6 HP. model J6RLEIA. I am going to install a water pump kit in this outboard.

How do I go about releasing the shift shaft? I have done this on my 225 on my boat, so I am familiar with the basics. But I cannot find any way to release the shift shaft. Any help would be appreciated.
