Water pumping question

My son owns a mid 70's 500 but couldn't get the stream of water to come out of the water port so he blew the tube out with compressed air and now the water comes out of the gasket area instead of the port and the motor ran for 20 mins and never got hot. My question is, will this cause lower unit problems later if left the way it is? Don't know why he used compressed air on the water tube but that can't be good for it.

Thanks

Re: Water pumping question

well compressed air isnt a bad thing, but what can be bad is if he seals off the bottom of the water tube then blasts it with compressed air, reason being because if hes god a bad blockadge from mud dabbers or what have you, the sealed off compressed air may burst out of the next weakest place (maybe a gasket on your exaust cover) you should try taking the water exit hose from the top of the block to exterior the motor and clear it out and try running the motor in water to see if water shoots out the water fitting, ive seen many many times blocks from mud dabbers, the engine s still being cooled properly, its just the telltale thats blocked
