I have an 89 Sea Ray 20' closed bow with a mercruiser 3.0. I have purchased a water seperator filter, which there wasn't one before. I can't seem to find a suitable place to install this. I first tried to fit it directly across from the fuel pump. When I placed the cover back over the engine compartment the cover rubbed against the fuel lines. I tried to build a small bracket to the inside of the cover and intall the filter between the cover and fuel pump. This seemed way too unstable. There isn't much room there.

Any suggestions as to how to install the water seperator filter?

Can the inside section of the engine compartment cover, which isn't visible as it sits next to the back seat, be cut and attached to the side of the seat and then attach the filter to that? The cover would still sit on top of the section I cut out and be supported by it.

Thanks for any help.
