water shutter

Hi all i have a 1973 mercruiser 120 with a 1 drive is there supposed to be water shutters on this setup if so where ? and what do they do

You have an exhaust tube that is attached to the transom shield. The shutter will be in the top of that pipe.

ok wasn't sure if i should see it when i pulled the outdrive good to know where it is in case i have problems down the road
