The black and red Baja I used to own was wiped down every time right after it came out of the water. I used a good wax to also keep the water from setting in one place. With this procees it was easy to keep the boat clean and water spot free.
when we are in the keys, and have the boat at the dock, it is washed down every evening, dried and covered. then we have a clean, non sticky boat in the morning.
You are dealing with 'hard water' i.e. mineral deposits. Almost a necessity to wipe her down after the bath. Besides, she'll thank you for it in the long run.

I do wash and wipe it down every time I pull it out. Do I need to use a chamois rather than a towel? Only the painted surfaces shows the water spots.
My boat stays three weeks in the water at a time then the Blue stern, Swim Platform and Freeboard (see Avatar) spots so bad it looks like a speckled bass. I wind up waxing again just to get the water spots off. I just bought some Collinite Insulator wax to try. They say it's the same as Collinite 925. I have been using Meguire's Premium Boat Wax the past three years.
My Boat is a 1986, It Looks New, I'm Fussy,I Intend to stay that way but I do use the Boat a lot . I put 85 hours on the hour meter last year and I probably put 200 on the boat.
