I have just finished reworking my outdrive (new gimble bearing, u joints, impeller) and put things back together. I took her out for a test yesterday and everything worked fine. When I brought her home an put on the muffs to wash the salt out I noticed that water was sputtering out of the front of the stern drive above the cavitation plate right where the speedometer tube and gear shifter lever connect. Is this normal? Or do I have a problem with a seal somewhere? I never noticed this before and the sputtering seems to indicate that it has a little pressure behind it. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you will be needing a new exhaust bellows which usually directs the exhaust water flow.No big deal, people run all the time with bad exhaust bellows and without them at all.It is the only bellows that you dont have to rush to fix. charlie
