I recently purchased a used boat that has Water stains on the glass windshield. I tried everything I know but nothing seems to remove them. It seems to be etched in the glass. I'm thinking that someone let soapy drops dry on the glass. Any ide's on how to remove these stains?

Thanks
Stoked Not

you can wheel it with a light compound, then polish.. regular rotary buffer, good wool or foam pad...

I would try a good quality ceramic tile cleaner (liquid). Home Depot will sell the cleaners.
I am not sure where you are, but in Canada you can buy tile cleaning products made by Hagesan. I believe they are the best.
Once you have the window looking like it should again, you may want to help keep it that way with Rainx.
Let us know how you make out

I had the same problem and solved it by using CLR lime and rust remover. You can get it in any supermarket or walmart. It may take a few applications and you may have to rub a little but it works and it is a liquid not an abrasive.I would not recommend using compound and a buffer on glass,it will distort it in a worse way.Charlie

Before spending a lot of money, first try some of the old time solutions, one that i know of is white vinegar and old newspaper.
The CLR that crazycharlie mentioned is also good.
I would be cautious about using any abrasive type of cleaner.

I've never tried it, but I've heard toothpaste rubbed in with a cotton rag might work. I think the rag should be quite wet.

DougV>

Ryoken,i am sure there are ways a professional can wheel glass with good results.I would never recommend a wheel and compound to just anyone who may have never used a wheel before. The combination of inexperience with a wheel and too abrasive of a compound and not making sure you start with a cleaned piece of glass could lead to a cloudy looking windshield from the millions of tiny abrasion scratches made in an attempt to clear away water spots. Not Good!!
