I am a new boater. Got this 1996 2655 bayliner and love it. After exchanging the fresh water pump, some tees in the transom area everything seems fine for the fresh water system ( it was most likely not winterized and froze the water and destroyed some joints and the pump). My problem now is that the water tank would empty on its own (I assume it is leaking and probably broke somewhere I can not see). I could see the tank after removing the stairs. it seems fine there. I am almost sure that the tank is broken because it would loose water to the front bilge and the pump would not kick-in and the system otherwise is holding pressure.
I have 3 questions:
1. to remove the fresh water tank do you look for screws under the bed, or do you cut the board and have it repaired afterward? (the boat is at the shop and the guy is saying that he did not look hard but does not remember seeing screws, I am not sure if he looked enough)
2. how would I find out the exact size of the tank (X x Y x Z dimensions) before cutting the board out?
3. If I break the tank where i could see it under the stairs (12" x12") would I be able to slide a flexible/fold-able water tank inside? has anyone heard about this solution before? My tank capacity is 27gal I intend to get the 26.5gal flexible tank to put it inside the broken tank. Of course I will use the 2 connectors on the flexible tank (input and output, no vent needed in these tank). Would anyone think that I should not do this? anyone has experience in this?
Please advise me, I have searched online for over 6 hours now and do not seem to find any answers for my questions. Thank you all and God Bless.
