Ok, so this is probably a dumb question , but I need some advice from all your ski/tubers out there. We bought our boat last summer (June) and the water was already plenty warm to get in, but this year I'm really getting the hankering to go play on the water NOW! What is the minimum water temp that you would get into? I know its different for different people, but I'm ok with cool water (not cold) and just wondered what ya'll thoughts are. Oh, and it's going to be 83 and sunny Saturday here. :D Thanks for the help ya'll!

Depends on how bad you want to play! 70 degrees would be plenty for me. Here in Utah a lot of our lakes are high mountain lakes that never get to 70 degrees all summer and we all ski them. A wetsuit could certainly help.

I have a built in wetsuit!! :D

On a good note, we ought to have the lake pretty much to our selves if we do decide to go saturday. With the 83 degree air temp and full sun, I bet in the afternoon (say be on the water at about 2) would be fine. If I can talk my wife into it....We may just try it. ;):D

Well I like hit it live in Utah also and if ANY of our lakes were 70 deg water temp with 83 outside I would be there not here on my comp. It may be a bit of a bite when you first jump in but I would think it will be fine. As stated a wetsuit would be nice just to take the edge off, but not manditory. A 3mm shorty would be perfect thats what we use for early summer skiing here but the water is 10 to 15 degrees colder too. Go for it, might as well extend the season as long as possible..

Learning how to wakeboard on a river last year, I found the mid seventys (76 when I went) to be comfortable. when learning you tend to spend a lot more time in the water instead of on top of it. Warm water kept me from getting cold and anxious and frustrated while waiting for the boat to try again. Whatever you are comfortable with is just fine, however warm water will provide a much more enjoyable experience...

Well I live in New Hampshire, I've water skiied in April with snow still all on the shore line, I wore a short wet suit....but it was still cool.....But I wanted to ski so bad! Just try to not spend too much time in the water!!! In other words try not to fall!!! Good Luck!!

70 degree water is WARM water!

Plus, just start off sitting on the end of the dock, and when you're done, get swung right in to shore. No need to get wet to go skiing :D
