Water temperature sender in a Johnson 1994 70 hp-where does it go?

I know this my be old stuff to many. I got the gauge and it has the Z bracket, but in the instructions it shows where it might go (inserted in the head). Is that correct or do I have to use the Z bracket? If so where on the head? Can you send a photo? If I have to remove a head bolt, what is the torque value to reset it?
