Just took the "new" used boat out on the river. 88 Four Winns 215 Sundowner, 5.7 upgraded from 5.0, electronic ignition.

1) When I first got the boat in the water the depth finder wasn't working. Guage in dash was blinking 0.0. There is a 3 position switch. Held it up, A## ascending, middle 0.0 blinking, down, A##. When I got out to the channel it started working.

2) Temp went up to almost 200, came down when I slowed down, back up under load (impeller 3 yrs old, will try that, but have no manual, need instructions or link)

3) Trim guage not working, which bugs me. Don't know where to start with this.

4) Trouble getting out of gear. Pressed the ESA switch and it did nothing. Prev owner said the throttle was bad, & I had a feeling it was in the ESA. (Made it a REAL b!tch getting it on the trailer for the first time. Didn't help that the tide was going out, pushing the boat up against the dock.)

5) Back of the trailer is too low to get into my driveway, Had to park in the street in front of the house.

6) Got a $25 ticket in less than an hour for parking a boat on the street!!!!!!

Who says I quit sniffing glue today???? ;)
Still seems like a decent deal to me Scott. Paid $4000, $500 of which I'm holding for 30 days pending engine (recent rebuilt 5.7, new holley carb) and outdrive (rebuilt when prev owner TRIED to change gear oil, lol) usability. And 3 props, and a thru transom exhaust kit not yet installed, porta potty, etc.
Which manual Keith? I need a part # Saw one on eBay for RGD models, someone posted that wouldn't be the right one. I can't find a serial # on the outdrive, saw the post where to look, but the prev owner put bottom paint on it. Also some concrete looking stuff on there???? I'm not a salt water boater, don't know what it is.

I keep telling you, I'll come get the thing if you're fed up. My 88 5.0 turned 5.7 works fine, trim guage and all. It will just fit right on. Even got the new ESA and Pertronix set up.

You could buy this 1989 manual from SEARAYMAN, even if your drive is an 88 the 2 years are very close, I have manuals from both years, keep one at home and one at the boat. OMC Manual
