I'm having a debate with my buddy with regards to oil getting in the oil pan via the carb. The boat is a new 4.3 inboard with 32 hours. I'ts in the shop now but waiting on the diagnosis. The intake hose came off and shot lots of water into the air filter...checked dipstick 5 minutes alter and oil in water.

I say no because the rings would keep it from entering oil pan.
He's says yes..went past rings into oil.

????
Thanks

You probably have a cracked block allowing water to get into the oil. After ithe crankcase gets so full of water it spits water/oil mixture out the breather hoses into the carb.

thanks for the reply...
It has a heat exchanger with sealed coolant system rated down to -34 F. So I don't hink it is a cracked block. I should and will edit the title to water through the carb.

rings leak. oil or water will get past them, especially water.
