Water Trampoline Liability

We wanted to put one of these water trampoline's off the beach and was somewhat concerned if some neighbor was to swim out and get hurt on it.
I thought maybe a keep-off sign would be good. I called my insurance agent just to make sure my liability clause would cover me. They told me that if the insurance co found out I had one of these they would not renew my policy and I would just be looking for problems.

Just a word to the wise.

Any sign doesn't absolve you from any negligence.

Our lake neighbor has one out all summer long. We never use it, but my son and grandson do. I have my concerns, but since it isn't mine and they get permission to use it, I just watch them carefully.

Last year we watched a boat come in, drop anchor, and then the occupants float around to cool off. And yep, a couple of them swam over to the trampoline and had at it.

The next cove over from us has a huge climbing "rock" and several other water toys. The owner is from Arizona and rarely comes up, so I don't know who uses it.

I have seen several around our lake. seem like a great go for kids of the correct age and discipline. That said, personal responsibility is a thing of the past. Insurance companies look for any excuse to dump an otherwise responsible customer.

15 or 20 years ago I wouldn't have thought a min. about it. Great fun and it would be great. Today with the way things are going I even get concerned helping someone that is stranded on teh water. Try to help them and something not go just right and all of the sudden you are the bad guy and in court. Too bad we went down that road. Life use to be very simple and easy going. Now it is try to get all you can get from whom ever you can get it from. Sorry don't mean every one. Just seems to be more and more people that way.
