water tube johnson 18 hp

does anyone know if there is a seal inside the exhaust housing that the copper tubing should fit in? if so what part is it? I cant find anything in my parts catalog.....:confused:

Great motor to work on! ive got a 63' 18 hp and there is a rubber grommet at the top that the water tube slides into . my manual has a part# 302497 (for '63) yours may be different. cheers!

I cant see it on drawings either,but as two of these grommits/seals are required,
I would say yes one at pump and one where the water pipe enters the
casing.

where can I order this part?i have looked here and have found it hard to find part. now that i think about i did see a grommet up inside the unit where the tube would go in it ,.looked as though it may of been mis aligned. before it looked as though rubber was coming out thetell tale hole.i dug it out . should the grommet go pass the tell tale hole ?as i remember i never did see water come out before and motor ran fine
