waterpump question on 79 100hp

Hello all...So i recently replaced my water pump and impeller. I fired it up for the first time today only in the driveway with the muffs. Water as coming out of the normal outlet, but water was also coming out of the exhaust baffle area and the small what i call relief holes on the lower unit pretty good. Is this normal because its all new parts or possible further issue thanks for all opinions.

The relief holes? If you're speaking of the two exhaust relief holes directly below the powerhead at the rear portion of the engine, that's common with a lot of OMC engines and is nothing to be concerned about.

Water coming out of the exhaust baffle area? Describe exactly what you mean by that statement. The large rectangular plate between the cylinder heads consists of an inner and outer baffle plate.... is water leaking thru that plate, leaking out the gaskets out the side of the plate, what?

I was speaking of the two exhaust relief holes directly below the powerhead at the rear. I felt the water should have been coming out faster through the main relief outlet. Maybe because i only had it on the muffs in driveway. I will bring to water to properly test it.
