And I just looked at the box on my last pump, and it was a Jabsco 18830-0000/Sherwood G-30, not a G-20. Let me go back and tell the whole story, as it might be of help to someone. And a big "agreed" on the shadetree...I do it regularly working on older stuff, but pictures, numbers, and an explanation why go with the boat. But this is more of a Sherwood/Jabsco thing. Now.... bear with me all. Boat bought from neighbor (he bought new), and he does not ever remember replacing the pump, just the impeller. It was a Sherwood with a 12 fin/keyway Impeller #18838-0001 (old Aqua Power #1231). I bought a similar pump off ebay a ways back, and it was the same, only Jabsco, and the impeller fins were thinner and no key (12 splines #18-3081). Put that one on last year after the Sherwood let go, but the pulley that came with it was not 6, but 6 1/2. So it was a Jabsco #18830-00
10 . So, new belt, and made it through the summer. Ebay another (new-West Marine), and although it showed it as a 18830-0000, it also was a -0010, which is a a fixed 6 1/2 pulley. The -0000 is a hub mounted 6 inch pulley, like my original. So I anted up and bought ANOTHER pump (I'll put a 6 on that other pump in time for a spare), a for sure Sherwood G-30 replacement (Jabsco 18830-0000) off an ebay dealer. Anyone who knows me will tell you am great at spending 3 bucks to save a dollar. And this too is a 12 spline impeller (18838-0001). Now looking at the Sierra Cat, the impeller shown(for replacement 18838-0001 12 fin/keyway) does NOT look wide enough. And I searched and can find only one 12 spline shaft on Sierra's impellers for these pumps.. Long story short, West Marine sells impellers. And if yours is the Jabsco, #18838-0001, 12 fin, keyway, I have 1 new, 1 with a few hours on it, I can let go cheap..email me at
Hogrider@Myway.com if you can use them. Also, if we shot a few more engineers, life would get a whole lot easier for mechanics. Time to go electric on this stuff anyway...
