The network of friends I ski with call ourselves the Bryant Lake Ski Team (BLST) - not because we're any kind of a real team, but I had to figure out something to put on the T-shirts I designed a few years back.

I challenged my song writing son to put something together for us before he headed off to college last fall. A few weeks later he had a hit - at least with a very limited audience. I figure there are at least a few other skiers out there who would appreciate it.

Crank it up!

If you're on Facebook, check the Waterski Magazine page. I posted the widget with full audio preview there. (it's free) This forum won't allow that type of a link.

The iTunes preview is limited, so here are the lyrics

BLST Anthem
lyrics

Yeah, we go to bed early and we set the alarm ? for six a.m.
Throw the gear in the trunk then we?ll hop in the car.
One hand got your thermos, one hand on the wheel,
It?s a test of true men - so are you fake or for real?

Mastercraft, Malibu, Hydrodyne, feelin? fine ? oooh.
Idle real slow past the dock then you gear up, don?t forget the trim up.
Gear it to the pocket. Ignition, then you rocket.

You got slime on your footy ? fit it!
Jump in the water when your ready - yell hit it!
The water?s kinda chilly but it doesn?t really matter -
Long as the BLST will stick together.

BLST ski early, ski often.
Sure the sunrise but we ain?t afraid of nothin?
Y?all listen up, everybody know what I?m sayin? -
?til the day we die we?ll keep on sprayin?
Bryant Lake, the lake. The lake, eat my wake.

Well the wind has past. Water?s like glass.
Take it to the lake ?cause we?re friends of fast.
One skier, one driver, one spotter.
Rippin? through the course, carvin? turns in the water.

Like a hot knife through butter, yeah I?m a wake cutter.
So take it around the other side and do another.
So come on in, we buoy skimmin? pickin? up women,
Yeah Bryant Lake this is how we been livin?

We gettin? ready to rumble and you might take a tumble.
So double ? no ? triple-knot your drawstring?
We don?t want anything slippin? None of that skinny dippin?
Shorten the line as the pace continues to quicken.

Hey yo! You got a jet ski? Get that off of the lake!
You pullin? tube rides? Get that off of the lake!
You tryin? to wake board? You tryin? to wake board?!
You better empty the ballast and get that off of the lake!

BLST ski early, ski often.
Sure the sunrise but we ain?t afraid of nothin?
Y?all listen up, everyone know what I?m sayin?
?til the day we die we?ll keep on sprayin?
Bryant Lake, the lake, the lake, eat my wake.

Re: Waterskiing Song

I skied on a Bryant Lake once upon a time in a land far, far away. Nice lake and park.

My brother and his friends would always go there and sometimes they would let me tag along. But I had trouble getting up behind that under powered POS outboard because I always started with 2 feet in. They all could hop along in the shallows until the boat picked up enough speed. Ah, the memories...mostly of taking in water and scraping my legs on the lake bottom.

Re: Waterskiing Song

Sounds like you guys are having way to much fun!

I can't wait to get going. Just bought a boat to teach my girlfriend and kids to waterski....guess I'll have to re-learn as well, as it's been....17 years! Sold my last boat just as I was learning to slalom, getting up on one with both feet in was my last accomplishment. Along came house, kids, etc.

Now my soon to be 16 yr old son (who sings and plays guitar in a band) is about to learn a new trick or two, from an old dog, (47 soon). My 14 yr old daughter as well. We live on a big river, it's a shame I've waited this long.

Your stories, song, and pics are a great inspiration. Just off the ski hill, thanks to my girlfriend....hoping the waterskis feel somewhat more like home.

If anyone has any tips on skis for beginners, I'd welcome them. I'm sure the technology has changed somewhat. Hopefully not as much as downhill skis in that time period. We are all too big/tall/heavy for the trainers I see advertised.

Cheers
