We Found Our Next Boat

I took my wife today to go look at a 2011 Stingray 208 LR. I was all ready to buy it but she thought it wasn't really that much bigger than our last boat. She walked over to the 215 LR and fell in love with it so now, because of the extra weight of the 215 LR, I have to upgrade my tow vehicle (great excuse to buy a new truck) and we'll be getting a great boat. What a win win situation. I'm very happy

Congrats. Looks like Stingray got it all figured out for 2011. What kind of truck are you looking to get? It looks like the dry weight is around 3700lbs so you should have a lot of options.

Thanks everyone. Before my wife could change her mind, I went out and bought my new tow vehicle. It's a Ford Sport Trac with a 4.6 Litre V8 engine. It tows 6990 Lbs. so I should be okay. I'd love a pickup truck but I travel to Boston and Worcester, MA quite often and those city streets are not pickup truck friendly when trying to find parking so the Sport Trac is a good compromise.

I agree with your post. Stingray's new 2011 boats are great. I've looked at loads of 21 to 24 foot bowriders and the new Stingray boats are packed with great features that most of the other bowriders in their size category don't have. I think Stingray will be selling a lot of these boats once people see them at the boat shows.

Man since your going all out might as well upgrade that tow vehicle to the 400 hp.Raptor 12" of suspension travel and I believe the towing capasity is around 8,000lbs.

OK, now go back and get the Sport Trac color matched to the boat. Or maybe get a Stingray logo for the truck window, or a pair of Stingray sunglasses or a logo ball cap.
What are you going to do for electronics? VHF, GPS, chartplotter, sound stuff? Does it have a porta potty?
Now for the rest of the winter you can bench race with us.
If you bring it home it will be all you can do to not go sit in it in the yard during a snowstorm!
Seriously though, congrats, those boats ride nicely, look good and have nice features. I wish you many happy years. That could be a forever boat if you like it enough.
ps. check the trailer spec plate on the left side near the hitch to make sure it will handle the boat right. It has to have brakes (over 3000 lbs), plus you want them anyway because the tow vehicle shouldn't have to self brake that much weight.
