Weak flow through Pee hole - 96 Force 120

Recently I've notice a very weak water flow from the pee hole of my Force 120. Installed a new impeller at the start of the season in May. But, recently there seems to be plenty of water spraying out of the Exhaust and very little, if any at times, coming from the pee hole. As I see other boaters with other motors, the stream of water is much stronger, as was mine in earlier this season. I, haven't run in sand, or picked up a bag around the inlet tubes or even had a suggestion of overheating. Matter in fact was out yesterday, ran hard for about 20 - 30 min, and when i got to the slip and pulled the cover, the engine was warm to the touch (90 degrees air, about 70 degree water temp)logic would say the impeller is bad, but it is only 2 months old with maybe 15 hours running time on it. Any thoughts or similar experiences.
Thanks, trophyman

You might try blowing compressed air back through the pee hole while the motor is running (on the hose or in the water). Sometimes, a little "something" will plug the hose/hole and this will clear it up.

I HAVE A 1994 FORCE 120HP. SUPRISE YOU MENTION PEE HOLE.ON THE 94 THERE IS NO PEE HOLE ;JUST TWO HOLE ABOUT 3/4 SIZE SIDE BY SIDE. JUST UNDER THE COVER .AFTER YESTERDAY IF IT DID NOT OVERHEAT I DON;T THINK YOU WILL EVER HAVE A PROBLEM.QUESTION HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT INSTALLING WATER TEMP. GAUGE? THE REASON I AM ASKING ON MY 94 THERE NO PLACE TO EXCEPT A TREADED SENDING UNIT, ON THE WATER HOUSING

I have a temp guage installed, it never goes over 120. The Thermostat is stamped 110 deg. I changed that last year and installed what was given me a the shop where i bought the boat and motor. However, the therm shouldn't affect the flow of water from the pee hole.

It all sounds so painfull!
But Backlash has some good advise. It doesn't take much to block them.

Backlash is right. My father-in-law's GT150 had a dirt dobber plug the pee hole. Also, I had a problem with a water pressure guage on the dash having a slice in the hose under the floor on a pontoon boat. The stream was very week coming out of the motor. I thought I needed a new impeller. Sat back and watched everything closely and saw water draining out from under the console. Spliece the hose and the problem was solved.

Good Luck!

John
http://www.hunt-fish.com

Don't compare Force motors to other brands of engines. They didn't have a specific "pee hole." That's one reason why there are so many dead Forces out there.

Impellers are cheap, rebuilt engine blocks aren't. If you're not sure, replace the impeller even if it has only 15 hours on it. Sometimes they can die young due to adverse circumstances.

Page62 is page100% on this one. The exaust ports tell ALL on these. But do like many are in the process of doing with thier Forces, and install a temp gauge just to be sure.

Re: Weak flow through Pee hole - 96 Force 120

Many thanks to all of you who replied -- I really enjoy this forum. Nice to get several opinions and experiences and be able to make educated decisions. 12footer and page62, there is plenty of water exiting the exhaust and i do have a Temp guage which never moves over 120. When I purchased a new Therm it was stamped 130 and the therm I replaced was a 110, which I guess explains why the guage never moved. According to the microfich the 130 is the appropriate Therm. It's been Thunderstorm central here in the Northeast so I haven't had a chance to test it. Maybe later this week. Thanks again!

Re: Weak flow through Pee hole - 96 Force 120

I have a question for you later force motor owners with a thermo. I just purchased a new boat with a 96 force 75hp hooked up the water and never got water to come out the pee hole its not blocked. Should water comeout the peehole even when the engine is cold or do you have to wait until the thermo warms up a little. I was to scared to run her over 1 minute to find out. Since then I have installed a new impeller and am currently waiting for a new 130 thermo to arrive. Ps my impeller was just fine?

Does water come out of the exhaust when you have the muffs on? If it does, you're OK. Force motors ain't like other motors...

Re: Weak flow through Pee hole - 96 Force 120

I have had problems with the muffs and Force 50HP. It's hard to get a good seal around the intake due to the position and shape of it.

I use a garbage can with a scupper type fiting in the bottom (so I can drain it).
On both 50 and 120, it takes about a minute to get water thru the tstat and out of the exaust ports.

Re: Weak flow through Pee hole - 96 Force 120

You're absolutely right 12footer, but I suggested the muffs in this case so Fishmaster could see if water was coming out the exhaust.

The newer Force motors have Merc lower units, so they're easier to use muffs. By the way, there is a special set of Force muffs available for the older models (I have a set), but they still don't help completely.
