We just put a rebuilt power head on a 115 ocean pro 1996 year model and it doesn't fire at times.
We installed a new power pack --no better ---removed the flywheel after we checked out the pack and the stater and disconnected the kill wire . This was done by professional mechanics . We removed the flywheel and checked and remounted the stator , making sure it was grounded. The wiring has been checked out but the spark is irradic and weak. We changed out the battery and even put the charger on 200 amp boost. We then got some fire but it was weak. What unkown virus is lurking in my engine .

The stator is not grounded. Your tech needs to check the charge coil output, the power coil output, and the pack output to the ignition coil. If these are up to specs at cranking rpm, then recheck with engine running in water or on a dyno. Was timing sensor changed? Sensor should have came with new pack. Check ignition coil for arcing to metal plate that covers the power pack.
The battery only used to turn engine, not connected to ignition system.
