New long block after spun bearing(1+ yr ago), thought I'd hook it up and it would light off 1st crank.
.
Now I'm getting frustrated.
.
New coil, new breaker plate, points and condenser.
Wiring- neg side, 1 wire coil to points and 2 wire shift interrupter and overstroke sw.
+ pos side, 1 wire 2.5 ohm resistor (run) and 1 wire 12ish vdc from solenoid start position.
.
No matter what I disconnect. weak yellow spark.
Even with just points to neg coil and temp wire direct pos coil to batt....weak spark..NO START...just little puffs
sounds like antique hit or miss engine.
.

Re: Weak spark

Grounds good and clean/tight? Coil and plug wires checking out OK? Do you have 12V to the coil while cranking?

Re: Weak spark

What is your dwell set at? Measured with a dwell meter?

What is voltage to the coil with the points closed?

And just a thought, I have had bad condensers out of the box before.
