Weak **** stream (dont need a doctor)

My 1999 35hp saw salt water for the first time yesterday. Before going out it had quite the strong stream, it did not hit bottom and suck anything up that would damage the impeller, the stream is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than before.

The motor is not running hot ir over heating. Should I be concerned? Replace impeller for good measure? Is there a NORMAL flow for these engines? How do you measure it?

Anything would be awesome..

It's not a matter of type of water uses, it's a matter on when was your impeller last changed, with time rubber loosens up, decreases presure, pumps less water towards engine head. If you have not changed it in years, time for change, your engine definitely will appreciate it, don't wait for a overheat as this will ruin other parts as head gasket and other plastics around. Check water pee hole for obstructions, if ok, change impeller.

Sand can shift around in the water jacket and cause the tell tale stream to fluctuate as different size sand particles obstruct the little pee hole.

One minute it can be a strong stream and then the next a weak stream.

The first thing to do is to get a small piece of trapping wire and see if the stream changes as you jag the wire back and forth in the pee hole.
