Gday again all, just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why my pee hole pressure is so low I have just had the engine rebuilt completley but the water seems to be going straight out with the exhaust. The mech has the boat again to find the problem but I thought someone here may have seen the same problem??? I have used it and it didnt overheat, YET>......

Thanks

most of the water should go out the exhaust.
check your telltale tube isnt blocked. also check your poppet valve located on the lower exhaust cover between the cylinders. 2 10mm bolts holding the cap on.

Yeah, we have checked the telltale tube, and the poppett valve. But it still isnt holding any pressure at the tell tale.

was the waterpump rebuilt along with the engine?
at this point i would remove the gearbox again and check everything is ok at the pump and carefully check the water tube for corrosion.
the indian ocean is a salty beast.

p.s. i am originally from perth.

Im not sure if he did the pump or not, but will find out. He is pulling the lower unit and trunk off this week to check the water tube for holes ect, hopefully he will have it fixed for the weekend as we are heading to Rotto for the weekend!!!

I have found a mech that knows his stuff and doesn't charge like a wounded bull. Phone Graham on 9443 8688. By the way BenC, the crabs are jumping into the boat in Mandurah. Merry Christmas everyone.

theromostats that wont wont close wont cause that because the water has to get to them well above the telltale before it dumps. if the waterpump is all good, and the tube has no holes i would double check the poppet. i would also remove the gearbox again and connect a hose straight to the tube to get a better look at just the engine side.
also check the pickup side of the waterpump for obstructions, remove the intake screen and look from above while the gearbox is off and the waterpump removed.
