Hi,

I have a 1989 90Hp 3 cyl 2 stroke Mariner Outboard.

I took it out on the lake 3 weeks ago after sitting the entire winter in a garage and everything was good. Strong flow of water etc. 2 weeks after i take it out again, but now the tell tale is bare giving any water?

I took off the lower unit changed gaskets and impeller, although everything was as good as new. NO change. The picture is of the flow on muffs, but it is the same on the lake.

What could I clean to eliminate problems, and how to clean in proper way? I have never touched water lines, tell tale line etc. Can I hook a hose to the tell tale and force water through it? Should I take off the lower unit and flush with water from that side up into the block???

Thanks

Had similar problem a few years ago. Turned out there were bugs, spiders I think, that had made a nest in the tell tell. Cleaned out with a wire and all was well again. Good luck.

Can I force water through the block and out the tell tale using a water hose?

it is easier to pull the cover off the motor and simply unplug the tell tell hose, then you can clear and obstructions at that point.

Thanks. Whatever it was, it is gone now. I took off the tell tale, and blew in the tube and the plastic tell tale. Now it is pissing like a champ. Thanks again.
