They look the same from a physical standpoint, and have heard that Weber makes the Edelbrock carb. Does anyone know for sure?

The Edelbrock carbs are Webers. If you take the Edelbrock plate off, The Weber "W" is on the casting behind it. Not sure if those numbers are the same.
Dave

The Edelbrock carbs are Webers.
I don't know anything about this,
But, Both are copies of the old Carter AFB carb.......
I've been using a Carter Street/Strip Kit for all the Needles, Jets,+ Springs, to Tune my Merc./Weber Carb...............

I have been watching for used Edelbrock 1409's, so just trying to find out if there are equivelent Weber's I should be considering, ie and same specs/parts. I did find some other posts on it, but specific model numbers are not mentioned. I'll continue to search for more info on the weber. Thanks.

What I can find says the 1409 is the 600CFM, like the Weber found on the 4.3LX,+ some 5.7ls.......
The 1410(750CFM) is the same as the Weber found on the 7.4ls........
On the Merc.s, Anyway.....

I just bought one on Ebay for 58 bucks. It came off a 94 350 Mag, it looks great and the jetting is perfect.......

To answer the question, the Edelbrock/Weber/Carter AFB are the same carb.

1900sx,

Well, you did better than the person buying this carb: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&item=4509102028&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT

which looked brand new, but came off a V6 and would need rejetting.

Could you post a link to the auction you mention? For some reason, I must not be using a complete set of serach word criteria, and would like to correct.

Whoops, sorry, that was 78 bucks. I've bought most of my parts already and must be getting punchy, linked HERE

It was dusty in the photo, it looks almost new, I was quite pleased when I opened the box.

1900Sx,

Thanks, don't know how I missed that one, but just collecting info for now, unless a real good buy comes along :) Looks like you are about ready to go. Don't know if anyone is interested, but if you took some pics of your work plus a quick write-up, I could post a few pages on one of my websites. In any case, let us know when you fire it up.

Well, I guess I'm guilty of "kinda remembering" what I paid for stuff. Here's the skinny on the real cost of the rest of the parts I've purchased off Ebay so far.

Here's the Iron Manifold

The Flame Arrestor

The Ebelbrock Intake

The Roller Cam Kit

I lost the bid on the cam kit by $2 but the seller has multiple kits and offered me a "Second Chance" to "Buy It Now" for my $136 bid price. I accepted...

I couldn't believe it when the 494 came up and grabbed it FAST, the Edelbrock is for sale....

I hope it isn't against the law here, but, I'm going to copy this to the 5.7 Power tips thread.

John, I'll certainly take those photo's. I may not get to her until March though as I'll want it in the water to tune the carb and check the ignition curve.
