Ok Mercruiser Experts! In cleaning my carb last nite, (the Weber/Carter/Edelbrock 4bbl), during assembly my son broke the short, special screw that holds the accelerator pump rocker/pushrod to the top of the carb. It does'nt show on any of the parts diagrams with a part number, and my first call to a dealer was of no help... stating somebody else may be in later in the day that would know. (but another dealer didn't even have anybody there to talk to until 10 oclock)
Of course, something like this happens when it's 90 degrees for 3 days in a row and I want to get this boat in the water!
If anybody can help, or find where I can get a part number, that would be awesome.
Thanks,
Dutch

Short of going from shop to shop and hoping they have one on an old carb they have laying around for parts, or checking a carb rebuild shop in your are (If there is one), you might try the link below.
They have a phone number in the upper right.

http://www.webercarburetors.com/

Don,
I tried calling that number, but get just an answering machine... too bad. I can't believe what a problem this is becoming trying to find a 2.00 screw!
I may have to call a place with used parts, but the boat dealers around here don't have any ideas where to call.. of course none of the boat dealers can get the part. It's not a service part.

well,
there's a lot of lightning storms around now. the radar is quite full.. but they are calling for mostly plain heat now for the weekend, and less chances of storms than today and yesterday...
but who knows.. they don't seem to know
what is gonna happen anymore!

Well,
improvised with a small screw for a short trip out yesterday, and what a difference with a clean carb! My accelerator pump works great now! (it was crudded up, and the one nozzle totally plugged)
I just cleaned the carb, and reassembled... and
it seems to run great. sort of glad I didn't spend the money on a rebuild kit. (boat only has 190 hrs)
And, my cold starting issue is gone now.. with the accelerator pump working it fires up much better..
Pulled 2 wakeboarders up without any problem.
Still thinking about those smart tabs though...
