The weed trimmer will start and run on full choke; however when I open the choke and hit the gas the engine dies everytime. Any Ideas? Thanks for the help

Yep, either clean and rebuild the carb, or throw it away and get a new one (weed eater, that is), whichever is cheaper!

Seafoam has revived many weed trimmers.

Bought a El-Cheapo weed wacker in 98. Every couple years it does the same thing. Little carb cleaner and it runs like new again.

DeepCreep, pull fuel line and be sure it's clean, new fuel, THEN new plug, be sure air cleaner is clean and you didn't oil it TOO much.

If you can get the card off easy use spray carb cleaner and take apart the carb as far as you dare to. Clean with spray cleaner and use Q-tips ti scrub out small spots.

If you remove any screws mark them and screw them in until they stop (lightly) and be sure to write down the number of turns (trust me you will forget). Now remove the screws and procede.

Once you have done this get a can of spray air (like we use on computers) and blow out the passages. Look in the carb thoat and you might see a pinhole or two... that is the idle circuit. use the tip of a pin to make sure they are clear and spray air into them.

The carb cleaner will loosen the crud, the pin will clear the idle circuit, the q-tips will be your scrub brushes and the air will blow all the debris away.

Make sure your air filter is clean - if it has foam wash that in the sink with dish detergent. Dry best as possible and use the spray air on it too. Oil it with just about any motor oil and squuze out the excess.

Re-assemble and set the screws (oh remember the number of turns you wrote down) and give it a try.

I usually do all this on a cookie sheet just in case I drop a small part (which I always do) it stays in the cookie sheet and does not hit the floor.

Check the easy things first like whether the fuel primer bulb is cracked or leaking.Real common problem. This can usually be determined by whether it will pump up firm.Make sure carb base screws are tight.Otherwise, follow the carb cleaning tips.

Try the Seafoam or Deep Creep first. Saved me with my weedeater several times when I thought I would have to pull the carb.

If you do pull the carb and clean it be careful cleaning the jets (small orfices). They are teeny tiny in a weed eater and if you get to carried away with a metal object like the pin Bob mentioned you can change the size or shape. Good luck! 8)

Pull the little muffler off and take apart.
There is a screen in there that will get stopped up from the 2 cycle and will build back pressure and not let it run.
I always take mine out and leave it out, no louder but sure runs better.
